Profile
Within The Rand Building’s ground floor is where Double Standard is located. Rosella at The Rand was once housed in the historic department store constructed in 1913, which Weston Urban currently owns. This location will appeal to visitors and residents who are tired of the routine and want to explore the nook of a historic downtown San Antonio building decorated with “drunkards and bar fights,” vintage steins, and dark wood panels.
On the menu are burgers, steak frites, roasted chicken, and fresh seafood dishes, including shrimp cocktails and fresh oysters, according to the Double Standard website. Scotch eggs, crackers, and canned shellfish are among the available bar snacks. Craft cocktails, well-drinks, and shot-and-a-beer combos are available at the bar, along with other alcoholic beverages. On the other hand, non-alcoholic options are served for non-drinkers. These include Running Up That Hill, made with coconut cooling tea, demerara, and sparkling water. The beverages are supplied from a keg behind the bar. In order to reduce the workload on his staff, Myles Worrell, manager of bar operations, pre-mixes the traditional cocktail and serves it from a draft system.
Double Standard pays a lot of attention to the food and drinks they serve. The bartenders are approachable whenever patrons have any concerns or requests.
