Profile
The first Texas Spoon debuted in 1980 and has been a Lubbock institution for over three decades. When it first opened, it featured some of the best live music in the area while providing a barbecue. Joe Ely, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and David Gilmore were a few bands that started performing at the “Spoon.” Early in the 1990s, the “Spoon” moniker was changed to “The Texas Café,” although it remained for all these years. Their homemade pit barbecue and top-notch live acts like The Darren Welch Group, Element, Elvis T. Busboy, Kinky Wizards, Electric Gypsies, and others carry on the heritage.
You can enjoy the Texas Cafe & Bar performances with your favorite drinks, like domestic draft beers and mixed beverages. Non-alcoholic drinks such as root beer, Red Bull, and lemonade are also available. Enjoy sipping one of these while tasting their famous BBQ.
The “Spoon” is renowned for initiating and continuing to host Lubbock’s Original Open Jam every Sunday night, which features a huge amount of local talent and frequent stops by out-of-town guests to perform. Who will perform at The Original and Now Famous Open Jam on Sundays? You never know! You must check out or return to this legendary live music hotspot in your community!
