Profile
Chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman, both natives of Memphis, founded Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in 2008 to offer modern Italian cuisine based on Southern customs. They have now been in the running for the James Beard Best Chef Southeast award for seven years after being named semi-finalists in February. Andy and Michael received the Best New Chefs Award from Food & Wine Magazine in 2013 and were recognized as 2014 Kentucky-Tennessee Rising Star Chefs by Starchefs.com.
Every Wednesday of the month, Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen holds the WTF Wednesday event. The chefs create a four-course meal entirely off the menu so they may test out their newest culinary concepts and the freshest seasonal ingredients. The menu isn’t revealed to guests until after the meal when they receive a handwritten menu from the chefs who have personally signed for them to take home as a souvenir. The supper will be guided by the servers, who will offer full service but keep the specifics of the dishes a mystery. Dietary restrictions can be discussed with the server at any time throughout the meal.
On their regular menu, Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen serves non-alcoholic mixed drinks like the Fizzy Lifting Drink, which is made with watermelon, lemon, cranberry, and Topo Chico. Meanwhile, the Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere is made with blueberry, lime, ginger beer, and Topo Chico.
