Profile
Western Pennsylvania’s go-to resource and destination for everything in the burgeoning adult non-alcoholic beverage industry is the non-alcoholic bar called The Open Road. This bar and bottle shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, began as a pop-up bar in January 2020 and is now a successful retailer that offers in-person shopping, local delivery, shipping to other locations, and pop-up appearances at community events. They also employ sustainable labor standards and are a minority-owned business.
The Open Road is the only retail establishment in Pittsburgh solely selling nonalcoholic beverages, even though you may find a few alcohol-free drinks in bottle shops scattered throughout the city. Owner Mel Babitz stocks the shelves of the storefront’s Allentown location with a bewildering variety of bottles that resemble typical spirits, wines, and beers but lack alcoholic components. Other bubbly lifts are just fun to sip as well as therapeutic beverages laced with herbal ingredients like kava and ginkgo Biloba.
The shop offers a wide range of N/A beers, wines, teas, seltzers, and spirits from different producers. You can acquire Brooklyn Brewery Special Effects IPA, Ghia Ginger Le Spritz, Mingle Mocktails Blood Orange Elderflower Mimosa, Free Spirits The Spirit of Gin, and Thomson & Scott Noughty AF Organic Sparkling Chardonnay.

My husband and I stopped by this store when we were in Pennsylvania. They really have a wide selection of non alcoholic drinks! My sober heart was very happy! We don’t really have sober bars or bottle shops near our place in NYC so I admit that I hoard some canned and bottled drinks haha
Mel was there that day and she was so nice to help me choose what should I bring back home. Hoping to stop by here again since we’ll be going to PA for Thanksgiving!
