Profile
The Heavy Anchor, which doubles as a music venue and a bar, is well known for its propensity to have a few wild concerts. The curious can drink in peace or join the melee of wild heathens on the music side, thanks to the thick wall separating the two parts. The bartenders serve heavy anchor pins to dress up your worn-out punk jacket, cocktails in Mason jars, and boxed wine. The location has a full-size sound booth and a mid-level stage, but bands would feel at ease enough to perform on the floor instead if they preferred. Wall to wall is covered with nautical decor, including colorful paintings and maritime objects like a charming blue octopus demolishing a cityscape with its tentacles and a glaring narwhal.
The Heavy Anchor, which is close to Bevo Mill and has a regulation board and lots of seats, is a great place to play shuffleboard. Additionally, there are weekly events like quiz nights and movie nights. Local brews are available on tap, along with treats from your own backyard, like Dogtown pizza, Billy Goat chips, and Gus’ pretzels. The bar also serves non-alcoholic drinks like Ritual Zero-Proof Spirits and WellBeing HellRaiser Dark Amber Busch N/A.
