Retreat is a contemporary American bar that was established in St. Louis’ Central West End in 2015. It is a cocktail bar with a wide variety of craft beers and American food that is all freshly produced. At the intersection of Sarah and Laclede, the Retreat Gastropub is housed inside the 6 North structure. Retreat is close to the burgeoning communities of The Grove and Botanical Heights and the “Cortex” district of bioscience and technology research and start-ups. Their main goal is to give visitors a memorable experience by delivering a cozy setting, a delectable culinary selection, and a focus on specialty drinks and craft beer.
Tim Wiggins oversees the beverage program and offers a seasonal selection of spirit-forward cocktails, craft beer, and wine. Retreat’s cocktail selection, which includes traditional drinks and innovative concoctions, particularly highlights aged spirits. Low-ABV and non-alcoholic drinks are also available. The alcohol-free options include N/A Sparkling Reisline, Free Wae Hazy N/A IPA, and the Nah-Perol Spritz. Housemade cold-pressed juices, syrups, shrubs, and tinctures, among other fresh, high-quality ingredients, are used to make cocktails.
There are ten rotating taps with beers from both in-town visitors and regional artisan breweries. The bar alternates sour and barrel-aged alternatives with this choice. Retreat also offers close to 20 craft beers in bottles and cans.
