Profile
The tapas at La Bodega is of the highest quality. In Spanish culture, tapas are an everyday occurrence. It was primarily a Basque regional tradition in Northern Spain, but it has come to represent a style of eating and socializing. According to legend, tapas have been around for generations. Tapas refers to the Spanish practice of covering a wine glass with a slice of bread. The word tapa or the verb “tapar” means “to cover.” It is a practice that pre-dates the 1500s. Traditionally, the social gathering is more significant than the particular cuisine offered. In Spain, wine is typically served with tapas. They are more about eating and drinking than they are about conversing. Tapas serve three functions: to quell any hunger pangs that have developed since the last time you ate, to stimulate your appetite for the next, and to promote socializing, which the Spanish are particularly good at.
The original La Bodega establishment opened its doors in 1998 and is situated on Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City’s Crossroads neighborhood. Southwest Boulevard gains some vintage appeal thanks to the originale, which offers indoor and outdoor, group, and private eating. Aside from its Spanish Coffee, the bar serves mocktails like Virgin Sangria and Virgin Mojito. The non-alcoholic options also include Spiced Lemonade, Root Beer, and different kinds of sodas. You can pair these refreshing beverages with Elotes, Embutidos Mixtos, and Pimientos Rellenos de Pollo.
