Russell & Desta Klein, a husband and wife duo, founded Meritage in 2007. Meritage has integrated itself into Saint Paul over the years, a city renowned for its professionalism and understanding of the past. The location, which was expanded in 2010 to add an oyster bar, has generated a buzz in the city and has become a favorite among the many artists, musicians, writers, revelers, romantics, and tourists. Meritage can take you to locations you’ve visited or have imagined visiting. It has been mentioned in stories, used as inspiration, and has gradually established itself as a legendary location in the lovely center of downtown. The venue hosts unforgettable occasions, ever-evolving discussions, debates, educational seminars, and even certain seasonal traditions.
The beverage program at Meritage celebrates traditions and well-made cocktails while complementing the cuisines and the seasons. It includes an award-winning wine list curated by their Wine Director, Desta Maree Klein, and a craft cocktail program run by their Spirits Director, JR Zarth. There is something for everyone among the offerings, including a variety of regional and foreign beers and creative and intriguing spirit-free drinks. The non-alcoholic selection includes Heineken 0.0 and a house refreshment called Burnt Pineapple Spritzer, which is made with caramelized pineapple, lime, and aromatic bitters.
