Profile
In Downtown Fort Wayne, Copper Spoon offers a cozy dining experience, regional cuisine, distinctive cocktails, and a sizable selection of spirits. Wine Down was the moniker it first opened in March 2015; however, in October 2018, it changed its name. Wine Down’s proprietors, Gary and Kelly Skeel, wanted to create a place where people from all walks of life could escape for a while and feel like they’ve been transported elsewhere. They are currently the sole owners of the restaurant and bar, which is still entirely locally owned.
Trevor Scovel, the beverage director at the time, chose the name Copper Spoon as a potential choice for his bar in the future. But with Gary and Kelly’s guidance, Trevor was able to turn the Wine Down bar into that reality, and the two concepts converged. Some of the best cocktails and beverages in the Midwest were first introduced at Copper Spoon’s bar, which has a long history of doing so. They were nominated for the Spirited Awards’ Best American Bar Team and Best Cocktail Menu in 2020 by the Tales of The Cocktail Foundation.
Copper Spoon’s cuisine would not be curated accordingly without the support of excellent local farms and producers. The bar serves a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for its patrons. Try one of their mocktails like the Staycation, made with Lyre’s Dark Cane Spirit, Dohz Orange Sec, pineapple gomme, orange, and soda. Faux spirits are also available from Seedlip, Three Spirit, and Spiritless.
