Profile
In 2006, the Blarney Irish Pub was opened. To give guests the impression of being in a pub near The Blarney Castle in County Cork, Ireland, all of the furniture and many of the items on the walls were purchased in Ireland and shipped to Toledo. Owner Ed Beczynski was inspired to open this Irish pub after visiting over 35 ones in Ireland. Finding the right midtown and working with the right old feel was the key. Tom Pounds, publisher and owner of The Toledo Free Press, discovered the structure and collaborated with Ed and The Blarney to purchase it. The Blarney was a perfect fit for the street level, with the Free Press residing on the floor above. In Ireland, Ed learned how important it is to pour a perfect pint of Guinness, and within the first five months, he sold more than 150 kegs of the roasted barley beverage.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights feature live entertainment at The Blarney Irish Pub. American and Irish food is available along with a great selection of imported and domestic beers. Non-alcoholic options are served, such as Heineken 0.0. You can choose from a variety of cocktails, specialty bourbons, house wines, and, of course, Irish whiskey.
