For the benefit of the people of Des Moines and beyond, Sarah and her husband Ben, along with David Tracy of Northgate Marketing, have created Kava DSM. It is where individuals can congregate for work or play without drinking to unwind, chill, and eat. Sarah Outlaw never dreamed she would open a tropical paradise in downtown Des Moines in just six years after starting her natural medicine clinic in New Jersey in 2015. And, as strange as it may sound, Kava DSM is the natural progression of the Natural Health Improvement Center. Both seek to improve people’s feelings to “let people live their lives as they deserve to live them, to the fullest.”

With the help of tropical plants from Petals and Moss, Kava DSM’s lush ambiance combines the vibe of the south seas with Sarah’s memories of her childhood home on the Jersey shore. This community cooperation brings together local favorites like Nourished DSM and Sleepy Cat Coffee Roasters. The food at Kava DSM also depicts the islands with vivid colors and exotic flavors. Overall, it truly is a feast. Kava DSM serves different kinds of mocktails, such as Kavamosa, Kavarita, Kavajito, and Kava On The Beach. You can also enjoy all-you-can-drink coffee in-house.
